My Motivation:
As a designer and font fanatic, I thought that creating fonts would be right in my lane. So, I took a try at designing my own typeface.
What I Learned:
I learned that I absolutely did not enjoy the process for creating a font. To my surprise, it was exporting the typeface correctly that was dreadful, instead of the design itself.
What I Came
Up With
The Problem
Though the outlines look decent, (if not slightly cool :) the structural construction of each glyph wasn't. This made tiny imperfections in each letter. And after exporting each individual file about ten times each, more than half of the letters failed to import properly. Meaning that my figures couldn't convert into a useable font.
No Experience
I have absolutely no experience in font design! When I want to learn something new, I tend to throw out the instruction guide and just get started! Which for the most part works out, but the importing process was a dead end.
Plenty of Errors
The little imperfections in each letter started to bother me, the font is full of errors and overlaps. I felt like I didn't know how to fix it.
My Font
Reflection
Not my Vibe
I didn't plan or sketch out my ideas before hand, and I didn't stay consistent with several design elements while creating the font. I also felt like I was creating something I stylistically couldn't identify with.
